Written by Triin Ivandi

Tallinn- Turku kayak expedition started in the 17 th of July. First day 7 Estonians kayaked to Naissaar where Finns already waited for them.

Second day, in the 18 th of July group started to kayak over the Finland Bay. After 50 minutes kayaking one of the participants capsize and group decided to go back to Naissaar. 6 Finns kayaked back to Tallinn- their timetable was almost broke.

In the 19 th of July 3 Finns started to kayak over the Finland Bay. Our kayakers didnt want to take too much risk. Weather forecast promised thunderstorm. Whole purpose of this expedition was to kayak together from Tallinn to Turku. Because Finns didnt stay any longer in Naissaare, our team decided to cancel the expedition.

Tallinn- Turku kayak expedition is in official programme of Tallinn 2011 Capital of Culture.

Trip is special because no one ever covered distance between two Capitals of Culture with kayaks. It is possible for Estonia and Finland being neighbor countries and having common culture and maritime.

Tallinn and Turku are old Hanseatic cities and also known after their famous ports, sea castles and islands.
